Robber's Roost

This strenuous trail is only open for guided tours. Ideal for ATV’s, horseback, and snowmobiling, the trail heads gradually up and around the distinct rock outcropping on the east side of the river. In the late 1800s, the setting was the hideout for a group of bank robbers that escaped from a heist in Encampment, and selected this iconic spot for the protected hilltop and commanding views of the surrounding valley it afforded.
