Riders of all experience levels can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime cattle drive. Take in the gorgeous scenery as you ride across the storied land, driving cattle through the Ranch’s various terrain. Our wranglers will help you get outfitted at our activities barn, finding boots, helmets, or hats for your adventure.

Cattle Drives

The trails here are endless, so why cut your ride short? Explore our 30,000 pristine mountain acres far and wide with a full-day or half-day picnic ride. Trail options include the remote and historic Sanger Ranch, with views of the mountains, creek, rocky outcroppings, and more. Stop mid-ride at a scenic lookout for a delicious lunch in nature. Saddle back up for a variety of optional adventures such as water crossings, shed (antler) hunting, and more.

Horseback Picnic Rides

Choose from four levels of difficulty that appeal to all interests and ability levels. Our trail rides last anywhere from one to three hours. You’ll mount a horse handpicked for you based on size, ability, and temperament.
Our Level 1 ride is perfect for the novice or out-of-practice riders looking to gain confidence and knowledge at a gentle, walking pace. This ride is typically one hour in length, covering flat terrain through the meadows and trails surrounding the main ranch area.
Level 2 is suitable for those that have some riding experience and want to ride a little longer but remain at a walking pace for the duration of the ride. This 1.5 to 2-hour walking ride offers a variety of trail terrain, including subtle water crossings and hill climbs.
Our Level 3 ride is great for those that have moderate riding experience and are comfortable picking up the pace to a trot. This two-hour walk/trot ride offers a variety of trail terrain, including water crossing, steep climbing, and shallow ditch crossings.
Our Level 4 advanced ride is designed for the experienced rider, who wishes to see more of the ranch&#8217;s backcountry at a faster pace if so desired. This 2.5 to 3-hour ride allows riders to walk, trot, lope and jump across meadows, sagebrush, mountain trails and some water crossings. Pace changes will be at the discretion of the wrangler.

Horseback Trail Rides

One of the rodeo’s most popular events, barrel racing is when a horse and rider attempt to compete a cloverleaf pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time. Many of our wranglers compete at top levels in barrel racing. They’ll teach you everything from how to ride or race to how to cut seconds off your time.

Barrel Racing

Horseback Riding Pole Bending at Luxury Ranch

A very popular speed event with competitors of many ages, pole bending consists of a horse and rider maneuvering their way through a challenging slalom course. Our wranglers will teach you the technique and skills required to excel in this activity.

Enjoying a hot spring in the winter is a blissful escape into nature&#8217;s own spa. First discovered by Native American tribes, the healing advantages of the Saratoga Hot Springs earned the area the name “place of magic waters”. The medicinal benefits of a tranquil hot springs soak are still experienced today. During the cooler seasons of winter and early spring, Brush Creek Ranch guests may access the hot springs typically reserved exclusively for guests of Saratoga Hot Springs Resort.
As snow gently falls around you, the steam rises from the mineral rich waters, enveloping you in comfort. Soak in an intimate teepee-covered hot pool or the 70-foot-long hot springs pool. The incredibly high mineral content and low sulfur odor ranks these hot springs among top, world-famous springs.

Still Water Fishing

Visit during the spring to experience the first fly fishing of the season. While this activity is weather/temperature dependent, springtime creates some of the most peaceful moments on the water. Spend an afternoon on 4 miles of Brush Creek, while the summer heat requires you to rise early before the temperatures are too hot for fishing.

Guided Creek Fishing

À la carte fishing options include up to four miles of Brush Creek and two miles of Elk Hollow Creek— both of which are freestone rivers. We catch and release using only barbless flies. Runoff peaks happen during late May and early June. Our best time of year is usually late June or July, and late august through October. Classic small western trout stream with rainbow, brook, and brown trout. Many methods of fly fishing can be utilized from dry flies to streamers.

Wade Fishing

Floats are à la carte pricing and conducted on the North Platte and Encampment Rivers by way of either hard-sided fiberglass drift boats or inflatable rafts with fishing frames. Over 10 different float options ranging from two miles to 20 miles depending on water levels and conditions. Float season typically runs mid-may through July.

Elevate your shooting experience to a private, luxury activity. Offered in the early evening, guests have the opportunity to take advantage of the regular two daily activities plus this third experience for a perfect, adventure-packed day at the Ranch. Enjoy the entire range exclusively for your group with NRA-certified instructors, steel rifle targets up to one mile away, and access to pistols, rifles, shotguns, and several special calibers and brands that are not available at our regular shooting activity (including a Barret .50 caliber). Explosive targets also add to the one-of-a-kind thrilling experience. End the evening with private cocktail service and charcuterie board in our destination yurt.

The three different five-stand set-ups throughout our three ranches are suitable for all ability levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Five-stand is a cross between trap, skeet, and sporting clays that is more action packed than trap, has more crossing/flying patterns than skeet, and is faster than sporting clays. Choose from our .410, 20, and 12 gauge over/under shotguns.
